What We Do

Making a Change…….

How it Began

After the Valley Fire of 2015, like most of our small mountain community our lives would be forever changed. Ours certainly did. Being a General Contractor for the past 30 years would come in handy for rebuilding our losses. Starting to rebuild the construction yard and fencing I had to call in for a bid. The fencing alone was going to be $15,000.00 just the lumber. Instead seemed more cost effective to buy a lumber mill and start milling all the burnt trees on our property. We had A Lot of usable lumber. Choosing not to give it away to the logging companies or have the clean up crews grind them into mulch. We had to do something with them, all the dead trees on Cobb Mountain were going to become a dangerous and major hazard in the future.

Once we started milling the trees for the fencing we notices how beautiful and amazing the patterns were in the trees. We made a few Slabs, the beauty of the wood was the Catalyst and my Mind became flooded with ideas. We started by building a few new pieces of furniture for ourselves. Needing to rebuild our property and wanting to be selective in repurposing for the interiors also had my mind racing,. Doors, siding, flooring, ceilings, exposed beams, the list kept growing.

“I could not let them take all the trees and throw them into the giant grinder or give them to the logging companies”

FROM START- TO- FINISH

Not only has this process been a healing type of therapy for us, we have a tremendous sense of pride in making our Art. From cutting the trees, milling, drying, conceptualizing, multiple wood processes, buying raw metal, welding, forming, grinding, and then putting that all together to make a finished unique labor of love.
